Sorry I haven't blogged all weekend. I've been rather down with a head cold and all drugged up on over the counter meds. Anyway, my brother-in-love called me to tell me of his and my little brothers Spanish class project. They are so funny.

They are why I feel 28. I am the oldest of 3. My little sister married younger and my little brother and littlest sister are in ther early 20's. It does keep me young. Which is great for my kids. They feel like they have the best play mates in the world. The Aunts and Uncles run and play with them but are old enough to drive.

These whimsical little reindeer make perfect gifts for anyone. (If you give gifts to your Child's School Teacher for Christmas don't forget their Sunday School and their Nursery Teachers as well.) They can serve as place card holders for a holiday table, party favors, or give a large reindeer as a gift, filled with the recipients favorite candy! They are an easy and inexpensive craft for classrooms or scout troops.

You'll Need: ScissorsCraft glue, glue stick or glue dotsTerracotta clay pots; 2"-5"Plastic eyesRed pom-poms (glitter pom-poms are a fun addition!)Three shades of brown craft foam, cardstock paper or construction paper;we combined all three to make our reindeer family.

parts pictured for the large reindeer

2 antlers

2 large ears

2 small ears

2 eyes

one red nose

How to Make It: First, with one shade of brown, cut the antlers to match the size of your pot. If you are making the larger reindeer, use a child's handprint as pattern. Then, cut the ears with the other brown. We used a lighter shade of brown to add yet another layer to the ears but that's not necessary.Attach they ears to the back of the pot. Then add the antlers. Glue the eyes and nose the front. Fill the pot with candy, nuts or other goodies. It's that simple!

A lot of places are trying to boost their sales by offering good deals on Gift Cards. For instance, if you purchase a $25.00 G.C. you get a $5.00 G.C. FREE. Well, if you are in a restaurant to eat go ahead and buy the G.C. you can use it toward your purchase. Then use the $5.00 one as a stocking stuffer or Teachers Gift.

I use to think Gift Cards were impersonal but with the economy I think they are very practical and people love them. Especially kids. They like paying for their own stuff. So something like McDonald's G.C. are perfect for their stockings or birthday's.

When you buy a $10.00 Gift Card at Subway you get a FREE cookie. If you know of any other places offering deals let me know so I can post them.

Sat. was beautiful! It started snowing in the morning and continued all day. The kids got dressed and ran outside to build a Snowman and had a snowball fight. They were so excited. They have seen snow before but never at our own house.
This is looking out our back door. They thought jumping on the trampoline was a great idea until they kept falling and got wet and cold
Later that day our neighborhood community area had a Christmas Party. It was AWESOME! Free cotton candy, popcorn, hot chocolate, horse drawn sleigh rides, Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Crafts (a lot of crafts) and they saw Santa Clause. Mrs. Clause even read them a book.

For His Name Sake by MaryBeth Whalen

"He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake." Psalm 23:3b (NIV)

Dear Lord, please show me Your will for my life.

Dear Lord, please let me know what direction I should go.

Dear Lord, I only want what You want. I just wish I knew what that is.

Have you ever prayed a prayer that sounded something like these? If you are like me, the answer is yes. Today's verse offers powerful truth that I had missed in spite of reading it many times. How often I had prayed for God's guidance and direction—yet still wanted my own way. I broke the verse down into three parts to better grasp the wisdom it contained:

He guides me: As followers of God, we want Him to guide us. We only have to do it on our own for a little while to realize that we are inept in finding the right way. Many of us have come to God after making an unholy mess of our lives. We have fallen before Him and asked Him to show us a way out of the mess. We are grateful for His promises to be our Shepherd who lovingly guides His sheep. We begin to follow Him, grateful that someone else is lighting our way.

In paths of righteousness: If God is leading us, we can trust that He will only direct us in paths that are right in His eyes. If we are tempted to walk down a path that we don't have peace about or is contrary to His character and Word, then that is a red flag that the path is not the right one. We can trust that He won't lead us down the wrong path. We just have to keep seeking His direction through prayer, godly counsel and His Word.

For His name's sake: To me, the crux of this verse is contained in this phrase. Why does God guide us in paths of righteousness? For His name's sake. He wants the way we take to directly reflect on Him. To bring Him, not us, glory. To make His name famous. To make our lives a living witness of His goodness, so that others are brought to Him. For that reason, He will always direct us to make holy choices—not necessarily the easy choices or the fast choices. If we submit to Him, we will find that He guides us to make the best choices. Not because we are the best, but because He is.

This simple verse served as a huge wakeup call for me. As I sought God's will for some decisions I was making, I had made the answer all about me. I needed to be reminded that, always, always, always, it needs to be about Him. My prayers were changed from "What should I do?" (a very me-centered prayer) to "What will bring You glory?" I had to shift my perspective from my humanness to His holiness. He will certainly direct me where I need to go. But I need to remember the reason as I seek that direction.

Dear Lord, my prayer today is reflected in this verse from Your Word: Please guide me in paths of righteousness for Your Name's sake. I want my life to reflect Your glory. I trust You to make that happen as you guide me in ways that are right in Your eyes. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Ok, this is the perfect picture of me and my little monkey's (minus the phone) You could compare my family to the show Malcolm in the Middle.
There is always an event, some kind if kid drama every day and the older my baby get (he's now 2) I see more and more of a schemer. Yes, I do use TV as an occasional babysitter, Yes, I have sent my kids to take a bath knowing the only soap that was touching their body was the melted soap they left in the water, We don't brush our teeth every night and Today I sent Madison to school in dirty socks.
I have tried to have the perfect Godly family; one that never screams, always has a clean home, clean kids and to look perfect for my husband when he's around. My reality is... Not That! And it stresses me out trying. It's impossible to keep my house clean while hearing "Cannon Ball" most of the day and if I take time to look nice I constantly hear "What is taking you so long?"
I love My Kids, My Family, My Life. Having God in our lives doesn't make us perfect but it does give me more patience, a better understanding, a better marriage and not so much mom guilt. I stay on my face a lot (we are well beyond knee praying) I have wonderfully created kids. (by God and not some lab) My kids are well behaved perfect little people with the ocassional speed bump like their parents. I still like to say "I've changed my name, when you guess what it is I'll talk to you" (after I've listened to tattleing and fighting all day) I also like to use "I'm off the clock" when after a 30 - 45 min bed routine when I still hear mama, mama, mama, for another 30 (after I have already been up 5 times) In any case we are a perfect family but it's My Family and I for one Love it!

What God Wants for Christmas

Every night we read books to the kids before they go to sleep. We've even started going to the library just to get different ones. While pulling things out for Christmas I came across a book I bought while at MOPS convention a couple of years ago. We read it Sunday night then they wanted to read it again last night and before they went to bed Madison said "Mom, can we read it again tomorrow night?"

It's an awesome little book that tells God's plan in sending Jesus. You can spread it out over 7 days or read it all at once. There are 7 little boxes with surprises in each one that you open up as you read through the book. This is one of the best books I've ever bought. At the end it explains that all God wants for Christmas is you! You can go here to check it out.
